Proposition d'historicaire (archivé)
Tentative Historicair 31 juillet 2007 à 15:05 (CEST) (attention, ce paragraphe est dans un anglais oscillant entre l'approximatif et le ridicule, merci de bien vouloir corriger ;-)
The Graphic Lab is divided into two parts: the Images-to-Improve Lab and the Map Lab. Each Lab have his own forum, but they work on the same way. Everybody can propose a work to do on the forums: if you want a modification on a picture, the creation or modifications of drawings, diagrams and more, you have to use the Images-to-Improve Lab forum. If you want a modification (conversion to SVG or translation for example) or a creation of map (topographic map, historical map...), you have to use the Map Lab forum. In any case, you're using this Request Form:
== Title == <center><gallery> Image:IMAGENAME.EXT </gallery></center> '''Article(s):''' '''Requested by:''' -- ~~~~ '''Graphist opinion:'''
Your request is done, you will have to wait... According the work you want, a wikigraphist will check quickly some points: is the license status OK ? Is this work is not too long to do (even if, from time to time, a wikigraphist will accept to work on a huge project, if he likes it) ? Is it technically possible to do it ? For example, if you want the outline of an object on a photo, if the background is not monochromatic, it's harder, and, sometimes, impossible.
When a wikigraphist is ready to do the job, he uses the template {{Taken|Login}}
. This is usefull for two reasons: the applicant knows is request is on the way, and the others wikigraphists will not start to work on it.
Some times later (1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 months...), depending on the work you have asked for, your request is completed by the wikigraphist and uploaded on Commons, to be used by all the wiki around the world. The template {{Atelier graphique}} or {{Atelier graphique carte}} is added too.
This point is very important for the Graphic Lab. When an image is modified, it can be used on all wikis. For drawings, diagrams and maps, it's a french version, but the SVG format is used most part of time, because it's better quality and, most important, it can be easily translated. Furthermore, from time to time, 2 versions are made: the french one and the english one.
After some requests on the Graphic Lab, maybe, you would like to become a wikigraphist... Is it difficult ? Not at all... Using some very cool softwares (see below), especially Inkscape (for drawings, diagrams, maps...), you will be able quickly to do good job. Furthermore, you could use some tutorials to help you. At last, the Graphic Lab is a community too, a lot of people are ready to help you ;-)
Instructions / notes
Intro
Should be an overview understandable by wikipedians and non-wikipedians. This will be displayed on a wall at the 2007 Wikimania.
Writing should be short and clear, in order to make the text vivid and more relevant.
Opinion asked to improve sections ; comments should be in the talk page)
On the end, an English Native speaker will be needed to correct our Fren-glish into good english.
On Thursday, this full page will need huge English corrections.
Note: graphist is not an English word; use graphic designer instead.

How the Graphic Labs work
- Guideline
10 lignes ? How we work, using a forum, with submitions/requests, free licenses, encouraging photographers to "Photograph your objects on monochromatic backgrounds", tutorials, par translations, carthographie/clean up/shema/...
The wikigraphistes are volunteers. Commun wikipedian submitting one image to clean up for an article he wrote // "Images hunters" who like look for several images to submit to the Graphic Lab.
Thx for the corrections !
