Glenda May Jackson, décorée de l'Ordre de l'Empire britannique, (née le 9 mai, 1936) est une actrice britannique, lauréate de deux Oscars de la meilleure actrice. Elle a également entamé une carrière politique, et elle siège actuellement pour le compte du parti travailliste britannique pour la circonscription électorale de Hampstead and Highgate, située dans le district londonien de Camden.

Jackson est née à Birkenhead, The Wirral, dans le Cheshire, au sein d'un famille ouvrière. Elle a un fils de son ex-mari, Roy Hodges.
[modifier] Carrière d'actrice
Après avoir étudié le théâtre à la Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, elle fit ses débuts sur scène dans Separate Tables de Terence Rattigan en 1957, et au cinéma dans This sporting Life en 1963.
Elle devint célèbre avec ses rôles dans deux films de Ken Russell : Love (Women in Love) (1969), avec lequel elle remporta son premier Oscar, et La Symphonie pathétique (The Music Lovers) où elle jouait la femme nymphomane de Tchaikovsky (1970).
Elle prit sa retraite en tant qu'actrice en 1992 afin de se consacrer à sa carrière politique.
