Le death rock est un style musical descendant du punk rock et de la musique gothique, très lié au Horror punk, au Batcave et au Psychobilly. Comme pour le Horror punk, les textes des groupes Death Rock trouvent souvent leur inspiration dans le cinéma d'horreur et la littérature fantastique, les nouvelles de Howard Phillips Lovecraft en tête.
