Robert Fisher Tomes

Robert Fisher Tomes, né le (4 août 1823, décédé le 10 juillet, 1904) était un agriculteur et un zoologiste anglais.

Tomes nait a Weston-on-Avon et s'installe comme agriculteur a Welford dans le Gloucestershire. Il devient un spécialiste des chauves-souris décrivant de nombreuses nouvelles espèces. Il rédige les chapitres consacrés aux insectivores et aux chiroptères dans la seconde édition de l'ouvrage History of Quadrupeds du zoologiste Thomas Bell.

Tomes est enterré à South Littleton, Worcestershire. Sa collection de mammifères est vendu au Natural History Museum de Londres et sa collection d’oiseaux est léguée à Muséum de Worcester.
