Hello together,

I am surching the fate of my grandfather August Lais (born 04.04.1907 in Wembach - Germany). He was zivilist and was catched from the french army in October 1944. They brought him to the prisonar of war camp Pouxeux (Department de Vosges). The last information from the red cross, was from the January of 1945. My grandmother told me, that the last information came from the civil prisonar camp of Chauvinerie in Poitiers.

I wrote to the city of Poitiers, but never got an answer.

Who could help me to find out what happened after his transport to the camp of Chauvinerie ?

cannot find anything, but i'll search in libraries. But camps of deportation for judden or war prisonners are not a great center of interest for historians and people, in France. archeos 10 avr 2005 à 22:37 (CEST)
