Meiling Li (李 苺鈴, Ri Meirin^?) est un personnage de fiction dans le manga et l'adaptation animé de Cardcaptor Sakura, crées par CLAMP. Elle est connue sous le nom de Meilin Rae dans l'adaptation anglaise, et comme Stéphanie dans l'adaptation française.

Meiling est un nom chinois, qui peut se traduire par "plum bell."

Like Syaoran, Meiling has many alternate spellings to her name, which are used in DVD releases, and some publications. Some spellings include Meirin, Meilin, and Mei-Ling.

[modifier] Caractère et rôle dans l'intrigue

Meiling est la cousine de Shaolan et aussi sa fiancée a cause d'une promesse qu'il lui a fait il y a longtemps. Elle est dans la même classe que Sakura. Elle est douée en gym et est donc une conccurente pour et a été entraînée avec lui aux arts martiaux par le major d'homme de la famille elle est super dynamique et très combattive. Elle est follement amoureuse de shaolan et le connaît par coeur. Elle est présenter seulement dans l'anime et le film, mais pas dans le manga. Elle considère Sakura comme sa rivale pour la chasse au cartes, mais est sympa quand même. Meiling est très souriante et a la manie de tout le temps arriver sans prévenir et de sauter au coup de shaolan. Elle essaye toujours de lui faire plaisir. Elle espère que Shaolan attrapera toutes les clow cartes et deviendra leur nouveau maître. Finalement elle ne sera plus sa fiancée à la fin de l'histoire.

Doublée par Yukana Nogami, Meiling is la cousine et fiance de Shaolan dans l'adaptation animée. Elle n'apparaitpas du tout dans le manga original, son personnage ayant été crée pour rendre la série animée plus dynamique. Meiling s'est imposée d'ellemême comme etant un personnage significatif de l'histoire. She also balances the main cast by being more tomboyish and outspoken about her emotions than the other characters.

Meiling apparait dans la série dès l'episode 19, "la nouvelle élève". debuts at the end of Episode 19 ("Sakura and the Summer Holiday Homework") with both a cheery Chinese greeting and a hot temper. Her self-proclaimed engagement to Syaoran is something she values and protects highly. Her first impression of Sakura Kinomoto is anything but positive, as she sees Sakura wearing a shirt that she had given to her beloved Syaoran. Meiling accompanies Syaoran in his then-rivalry against Sakura, though she often does so more at school than when capturing Clow Cards.

She has no magical abilities but believes that her physical talents will compensate. Carrying such pride, Meiling vows to help Syaoran capture the Clow Cards using her martial arts skills. However, much to Syaoran's displeasure, she tends to get in the way of his card capturing more often than she helps.

One instance of her hindering a Clow Card capture occurs when Meiling challenges The Fight to a battle in Episode 20. Although she did well at first, The Fight's supernatural strength and endurance proved to be too much for her, and she was soundly defeated. Had Syaoran not intervened at the last moment, catching The Fight by surprise and kicking it out of Meiling's way, she would have been seriously injured.
