Earl Steffa Moran est né à Belle Plain, Iowa, U.S.A, le 08 Décembre 1893 et mouru à Los Angeles, Californie, le 17 Janvier 1984. Son père, fermier, était Frank Moran (1865-1949), et sa mère était Adella Bell (Steffa) Moran (1870-1965).
Earl étudia l'art à la Chicago Art Institute, ensuite, il déménagea vers Manhattan où il continua ses études à la fameuse Art Student League de New York City. Il étudia sous les coupelles de Vincent Dumont, Robert Henri, George Bridgman et Thomas Fogarty (Norman Rockwell's teacher).
Il était passé maître dans les peintures pastel et à l'huile, premièrement sur canvas, ensuite sur tableau d'art. Il travailla pour Sears & Roebucks, fit des couvertures pour Beauty Parade et Eyefull (magasines pour hommes), illustra pour Life Magazine, et élabora des posters de films. Il travailla aussi pour Brown & Bigelow dans les années 1940-1950. Ses modèles les + connus étaient Norma Jean Dougherty, A.K.A., Marilyn Monroe de 1946 à 1950. Il signa avec les Galleries "Aaron Brothers Galleries" et fit ses collections jusqu'en 1982, date à laquelle il dû arrêter pour raison de santé (Yeux). Traduction : Tchetazz
Earl Steffa Moran was born in Belle Plain, Iowa on December 8th, 1893 (WWI Draft Registration Card) and died in Los Angeles, California on January 17th, 1984 (California Death Index). His father was Frank Moran (1865-1949), farmer and this mother was Adella Bell (Steffa) Moran (1870-1965). Art schooled at the Chicago Art Institute, then moved to Manhattan and studied famous Art Student League of New York City. HE studied under Vincent Dumond, Robert Henri, George Bridgman, and Thomas Fogarty (Norman Rockwell’s teacher). Earl was a master of pastels and oils, first on canvas then art board, who worked for Sears & Roebucks, did covers for Beauty Parade and Eyefull (early men’s magazines), illustrated for Life magazine, and movie posters. He worked for Brown & Bigelow in the 1940’-50’s. His best known model was Norma Jean Dougherty, A.K.A., Marilyn Monroe from 1946 to 1950. He signed with Aaron Brothers Galleries and did work for collectors until 1982 when his eyes stated to fail.
