Thierno Seydou Nourou Tall was born in 1862 in Nioro, Mali ( not 1880) and died on the 25th January, 1980 in Dakar, Senegal. His father was Mohamed Nourou Tall the 23rd son of Cheikh Oumar Tall and his mother was Mariam Bello the grand-daughter of Othmane dan Fodio who consolidated Islam in Northern Nigeria and died in 1817. After his return from Mecca Cheikh Oumar Tall established in Northern Nigeria for seven years and was a counselor to Mohamed Bello, the son of Othmane dan Fodio until he died in 1837. Othmane dan Fodio has an important relationship with Senegal because his ancestor MUSA DJAKOLA DEM is from Horefond in Fouta Toro and emigrated to Northern Nigeria in order to trade and teach Quran. He is from the torodbe class of aristocrats whose main occupation is to teach islam and the Quran.

Thierno Seydou Nourou Tall is remarkable for his long life of 118 years and for the power of his prayers and meditation he is internationally known. He has been decorated by France.
