Richard Roxburgh est un acteur et réalisateur australien, né le 1er janvier 1962 à Albury (Australie).

Diplômé de la National Institute of Dramatic Arts en 1986, Richard Roxburgh commence sa carrière de comédien au théâtre, notamment en jouant des pièces de William Shakespeare, comme Hamlet, ou d'Oscar Wilde.

Ce n'est qu'après de longues années qu'on lui propose un rôle au cinéma, dans le drame Dead to the World. Mais c'est la télévision qui va propulser sa carrière, avec la série Blue murder, dans lequel il incarne le rôle d'un policier, et pour lequel il va recevoir un Australian Logic Award du meilleur acteur en 1995.

Les films qu'ils tournent désormais (Doing Time for Patsy Cline, Children of the Revolution) lui ouvrent les portes d'Hollywood. On le verra dans de grosses productions, comme Mission: Impossible 2 ou Moulin Rouge !, et plus récemment Van Helsing.
