King of the Hill est le 3e film de l'américain Steven Soderbergh sorti en 1993. Le film se situe pendant les années 1930, durant la Grande Dépression. L'histoire est basée sur le "roman d'apprentissage" d'Aaron Edward Hotchner.

Pendant la Grande Dépression, en 1933, une famille d'origine allemande, les Kurlander, tente de mener une vie normale dans un hôtel de passage. Mais peu à peu la famille se sépare et certains quittent l'État. Le père est l'avant dernier à partir et promet à son fils Aaron qui restera sur place pour le nourrir et l'élever. Mais Aaron s'apercevra rapidement qu'il est désormais livré à lui-même...
