Lines of the German Intercity Train Network as of 1985. Reconstructed using an official train time-table from that era and additional information from the German Wikipedia.
- Each coloured line on the map corresponds to one train per hour on that line. Dashed lines represent one train each two hours.
- Not all systematic stops of the network are shown. (Especially in the Rhur area: Duisburg, Bochum, Essen, Solingen, Hagen; and the town of Bebra providing a connection to Kassel, which itself was not served by the IC network.)
- Some trains also take other routes or stop at additional stations. (E.g., Hamm, Minden, Kassel, Darmstadt, Baden-Baden, Offenburg, Aschaffenburg, Ingolstadt.)
