Description

Giemsa-stained Drosophila melanogaster mitotic metaphase chromosomes seen with a light microscope. A is male (Y-chr marked), b is female. Chromosomes clockwise from left in both images: autosome pairs 2 and 3 (order unknown), X (& Y). Chromosome pair 4 is in the middle of the radial metaphase plate.
