Dans la série NUMB3RS, il a deux pères : son père biologique, Alan Eppes (joué par Judd Hirsch), et son père intellectuel, le Professionnel "tout le temps là et jamais autre part" quand il a besoin de résoudre les énigmes que son frère, agent du FBI, ne sait pas résoudre.

Il est également professeur de mathématiques dans une université.
