Bad Astronaut est un groupe de pop-punk, side project du chanteur de Lagwagon Joey Cape.

Twelve Small Steps, One Giant Disappointment sera leur dernier album comme l'annonce Joey Cape sur leur site officiel suite au suicide du batteur Derrick Plourde: "i consider this record to be the final Bad Astronaut album because without Derrick, there is no Bad Astronaut."

Toutefois, Joey travaille actuellement sur un nouveau projet nommé Afterburner (avec notamment Todd Capps) qu'il présente comme similaire à Bad Astronaut ("I think it will be very similar to Bad Astronaut.")
