Description d'Auberchicourt; cartulaire de Croy (Albums de Croÿ), Village vu du sud-est, avec route venant de Bouchain et jonction (à droite) vers chemin de Denain. Les maisons sont densément groupées autour de l'église construite en pierre et couverte d'ardoises; Près de l'église, l'artiste a figuré une tour construite des mêmes matériaux, carrée et couverte d'une courte flèche : il s'agit probablement d'une partie du château (cité à partir du XIIe siècle, ayant appartenu aux grandes familles importantes (Lallaing, Lannoy, Sainte-Aldegonde de Noircarmes).. Les 2 bâtiments à couverture de tuiles pourraient en être une dépendance.


Le bâtiment couvert de tuiles orné d'une cheminée, pourrait être le four du village.
Les 2 grandes constructions unies par une haute tourelle (les 3 étant couvertes de tuiles) pourraient peut-être figurer la maison des échevins et la halle.

L'industrialisation et les guerres changeront complètement le paysage régional. L'église une première fois reconstruite après 1647 le sera encore en 1874.
