[edit] Summary
Description |
South Gate, Lalbagh Fort(লালবাগ কেল্লা). To the South of the Fort lies the Buriganga(বুড়িগঙ্গা) River, but the River has receded from the side of the Fort Complex with time, and those lands have been occupied by more modern buildings. The South Gate was certainly the most important gate of all, as attacks were most likely to come from the river's direction. Mughal soldiers used to march out the gates to fight enemies and rebels all over Bengal (সুবেহ-ই-বাংলা), or running up the ramparts to defend the for walls against invaders.
