  • Description: Santiago/Chile 30 Stunden nach Regen. Aufnahme im Winter 2003, einen Tag nach ergiebigen Niederschlägen, gegen Nachmittag. Ansicht der Zentralanden bei Santiago de Chile. Im Vordergrund der Stadtteil "Providencia", dahinter, verborgen im Smog, "Las Condes". Die Stadt befindet sich in einem Kessel von ca. 50km Durchmesser auf etwa 500 M ü. NN. Im Westen liegt das Küstengebirge mit Gebirgshöhen von über 1800 M ü.NN, im Osten (Blickrichtung) die Anden mit Gipfeln von zum Teil über 6000 M ü.NN. Nach Norden und Süden erheben sich ebenfalls Hügel wodurch die die Stadtluft bei Inversionswetterlage im Kessel gefangen ist.
