Robert W. Paul est un producteur, réalisateur, directeur de la photographie et acteur britannique né le 3 octobre 1869 à Highbury (Royaume-Uni), décédé le 28 mars 1943 à Londres (Royaume-Uni). 1er producteur de film anglais. 1er réalisateur qui a pensé à raccorder deux plans. A appartenu à l'école de Brighton. Celle-ci a travaillé aux différentes techniques cinématographiques que l'on connait aujourd'hui.

Robert William Paul est un producteur, réalisateur, acteur et directeur de la photographie britannique. Il est né le 3 octobre 1869 à Highbury (Royaume-Uni) et mort le 28 mars 1943 à Londres. C'est le premier producteur anglais et le premier réalisateur à penser à raccorder deux plans. Il invente en 1895 une caméra et tourne avec d'autre artistes tel que Bit acres, Georges Robert Smith, James Williamson, Cecil Hepworth ou encore Lewin Fitzhamon. Il fait partie de l'école de Brighton, un regroupement de plusieurs artistes britanniques de la même époque qui inventèrent également l'insert et le premier vrai montage (dans Fire! de James Williamson).
