First, the spelling Ohrid instead of Okhrid is no imitation of English. The English transliteration of the Slavic x is kh -- same as the suggested French one.

Second, the claim that the usual French transliteration of x is kh in the case of this particular historical name seems unsubstantiated. For instance, a Google search produces more hits for «Ochride, Macedoine» than «Okhrid, Macedoine» hits. (By the way, the digraph kh looks rather awkward in French and English texts.)

Third, Ohrid is the official Bulgarian Latin transliteration of the name.

Fourth, presently that town is situated in the Republic of Macedonia, which uses a Latin transliteration based on the Croat Latin alphabet (nothing to do with English). And their spelling of the name is Ohrid again.

On another point, I don't think it is appropriate to describe Saint Clement just as a contemporary of Tsar Boris I^er. It is an important historical fact that Saint Clement worked for Boris I^er who commissioned his activities as a major state project of establishing a distinct Bulgarian church and education system.
