Robert Sternberg (1949 —) est un psychologue américain contemporain qui s'intéresse à l'intelligence, à l'intelligence pratique, à l'intelligence gagnante (Successful Intelligence), à la créativité, à l'intelligence créative, au leadership, etc.
Écrivain prolifique, il a écrit — seul ou en collaboration — près de 200 livres.
Sa définition de la créativité la plus récente (2002) est celle-ci :
« Creativity is the ability to produce work that is :
- novel (i.e. original, unexpected),
- high in quality,
- and appropriate (i.e. useful, meets task constraints) ».
(Sternberg, Kaufman, & Pretz, 2002, p. 1).
Pour lui, le leadership est une forme de créativité.
